DEFINITIONS
CBD Edible- Any CBD-infused food or drink. With a tincture, CBD is absorbed through glands underneath the tongue before reaching the bloodstream. With an edible, CBD must travel through the digestive system and liver; this takes much longer. But the results also last longer.
Cannabidiol (CBD)- One of the four most well-known cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. CBD is nonpsychoactive (meaning that it does not produce the high often associated with cannabis) and widely used to self-treat various conditions, including pain, anxiety, and insomnia.
Cannabinoid- Any chemical, natural or synthetic, that interacts with the endocannabinoid system.
Dosing- The quantity of hemp taken to treat specific health conditions.
Edible- Food or candy products infused with hemp. Edibles must be digested in order to take effect, and as a result, it may take some time to feel whatever sensation they produce.
Endocannabinoids- Natural chemicals produced by the body that interact with your endocannabinoid system and regulate important body functions. Their primary purpose is to maintain balance, or homeostasis.
Extraction- Extraction techniques are used to separate the chemical components of hemp from the plant matrix.Application (of CBD products)- Method of administering product to the body, such as topical, drops, capsules, edibles, etc.
Full spectrum CBD– A hemp extract that contains all naturally occurring compounds in hemp. Full-spectrum CBD is also known as whole-plant CBD. There are over 100 chemical compounds in cannabis plants that are classified as cannabinoids, which are the active ingredients responsible for the therapeutic properties of hemp. Full-spectrum CBD oil is the most complete version.
Hemp- A hemp plant that contains 0.3 percent or less of THC, cultivated for industrial or medicinal uses. Commercial items made from hemp fiber include paper, textiles, clothing, and biodegradable plastic; hemp seed oil is used as food and in shampoo and skin products; and hulled hemp seeds are eaten on their own or ground into flour.
Isolate- CBD isolate- Unlike full spectrum CBD, is a pure extract of the cannabinoid known as cannabidiol (CBD). Isolate products contain only cannabidiol without any other cannabinoids and terpenes naturally found in the hemp plant. Isolates work by influencing cannabinoid receptors in the body’s endocannabinoid system. When CBD isolate interacts with these receptors, it can influence many different bodily functions. CBD isolate has excellent benefits on the mind. Several studies have shown that CBD alone may ease anxiety, depression, stress, and even PTSD in some people.
Tincture– A liquid form of refined concentrated CBD in a jar with a dropper. Tincture application into the mouth lining or under the tongue has a faster absorbing rate than edible products. The dropper can also be used to apply CBD into a drink.
